Who is responsible

StudyBuddy is run by QuipShip Software, Breitenfurter Strasse 376, 1230 Wien, Austria. Contact for privacy questions: [email address].

What we store and why

• Account: your name, email address, a hash of your password, your language and whether you confirmed your email. Needed to run your account (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• Study data: your subjects, questions, answers, practice exams and review schedule. This is the service itself (Art. 6(1)(b)).
• Study material: when you upload a file, we extract its text and keep only the text, so the tutor can quote it. The file itself is discarded right after reading.
• Tutor chats and AI usage: your questions to the tutor, its answers, and how many AI requests you made each day, to show you your history and enforce daily limits.
• Billing: if you subscribe, your Stripe customer ID and subscription status. Card details go to Stripe directly; we never see them.

Who processes data for us

• Railway hosts the app and database (servers in the EU).
• Anthropic generates tutor answers and questions. When you use AI features, your question and relevant passages from your material are sent to Anthropic's API in the USA. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models.
• Stripe handles payments if you upgrade.
• Brevo sends our emails (account confirmation, password reset, reminders you switch on).

Transfers outside the EU rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

Cookies

We use two cookies that the app needs to work: one keeps you signed in, one remembers your language. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Until you delete your account. Deleting it removes all of the above from our database straight away. Stripe keeps payment records as tax law requires.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export and delete your data. Export and deletion are in Settings; for anything else, write to [email address]. You can also complain to a data protection authority.
